Obviously a conventional career involves doing much the same thing for a long period of time, possibly moving to a new company from time to time and progressing up the ladder. Claire Amy is responsible for the temporary and contract assignments at AP Commercial, which deals with the commercial world, i.e. industries that involve making and selling things or providing services, outside the finance sector. ’Our most recent vacancies have included secretaries, receptionists, administrators and telephone order clerks, among others,’ she says. ’There is always something different coming in, so someone who enjoys variety and has the ability to adapt quickly to new working environments can have a really worthwhile career. Temps are always meeting new people, learning new things, and every assignment is like a fresh start.’
